As of October 2019 all AP HP Oxygen Hoses are fitted with a flow restrictor (shown above) to help slow the rate of inflation when pressurising HP oxygen systems. This should be used in conjunction with a new AP Progressive-Opening Oxygen Cylinder Valve also launched in October 2019.

In combination these two new design features are a significant contribution towards reducing the risk of an oxygen fire. However it is the responsibility of the diver to have good practice with regards oxygen cleanliness of kit, care in handling and above all a mindset that pressurising oxygen systems should be done extremely slowly.

NOTE: ALWAYS PRESSURISE HP OXYGEN SYSTEMS EXTREMELY SLOWLY - TAKING BETWEEN 1-2 MINUTES TO REACH FULL PRESSURE.

Opening the Cylinder Valve

You should open the valve a fraction at a time until the HP gauge needle just starts to move, if necessary, closing the valve slightly if the pressurisation rate is too fast, then stop and wait until it reaches full pressurisation.

Renewing HP Oxygen Hoses

NOTE: We recommend replacing all oxygen hoses every 5-6 years. Due to fire risk, under no circumstances go beyond 8 years, regardless of use. Replace all diluent/air hoses every 8 years.
