APD45 - 45m Ratchet Dive Reel with High-vis Dyneema Floating Line

Compact pocket reel with unique fully enclosed "no snag" design

Unique benefits:

  • Only 8cm across, it sits comfortably in the palm of the hand and can be easily stowed in a pocket.
  • The totally enclosed design prevents snagging and bird-nest tangling, a common problem with open reels.
  • Features a loud audible ratchet-click when winding-in – which aids the diver in judging ascent speed and lets other divers know you are returning or ascending.
  • Built with glass reinforced polymer – it is rugged and extremely light.
  • 45m of high-visibility Dyneema line – which is twice as strong as Kevlar and stronger than steel.
  • Simple on/off thumb-lock switch to change between ratchet and free-running modes when deploying the line.

For use as both a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) Reel and/or a Navigation Reel:

  • The line is positively buoyant which means it will rise above the seabed or wreckage when played out, helping to avoid entanglement and delay on the return journey.
  • The wrist loop can be tightened onto the wrist when used as a navigation line, leaving your hands free for other tasks.
  • Left or right handed operation.
  • The wrist loop is easily removed for safe deployment of an SMB.*
  • The thumb-lock switch features a lock-off / tap-to-release design so that you do not have to keep your thumb on it in free-running mode when using it as a navigational reel. For safety, we recommend you keep the lever held down with your thumb when using the reel to deploy an SMB.

* IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • As instructed in your training, you should not have a reel attached to any part of your kit or use the wrist-strap when sending an SMB to the surface. The reel should be lightly held so that it is possible to let it go easily if necessary.

  • When using the reel to deploy an SMB take great care not to accidentally push the locked-down lever to the right as this will release it from its locked-down position and re-engage the ratchet mode causing the line to stop playing out. It is recommended that you should KEEP YOUR THUMB ON THE LEVER DURING SURFACE MARKER BUOY DEPLOYMENT.

BEFORE FIRST USE:

  • The Dyneema line has been machine-wound on the spool. To ensure the line runs freely it is vital that you UNWIND IT FULLY on dry land and then rewind manually before your first dive.
