AP DIVING SERVICING PRICE GUIDELINES

We use these guidelines to work out the cost of repairing and servicing your dive equipment. Please remember, each item is assessed individually, so the price may be higher than listed below. If this is the case we’ll always tell you first before we do any further work. This list is by no means exhaustive and we can offer bespoke servicing on request.

AP BCD SERVICING

All BCD Servicing prices below include VAT but exclude return carriage.
Please contact us for carriage costs to your location.

Note: BCD inflators, cylinders or air-horns will only incur carriage charges if they are being returned separately. Otherwise their return will be covered by the one BCD p&p charge (typically about £10.00 to UK Mainland addresses)

PLEASE NOTE: By submitting your BCD for service you do so on the understanding that assessment requires full disassembly of the BCD including removal of the valves and bladder. The BCD will be assessed on arrival and any additional servicing, replacement parts or repair costs will be discussed and agreed with the customer before any further work is undertaken.

Post-assessment – if you do not want to proceed with the service, or the BCD is found to be beyond repair:

    • We check whether the fault(s) are covered by Warranty (see conditions below)

If not eligible for warranty, you have the following options:

  1. You request that we post the parts back to you (postage payable)
  2. You request that we scrap the BCD (with the offer of a Scrappage Discount on a new AP BCD)
  3. You request that we reassemble and return the BCD.* There is a Reassembly Fee of £40.00 + postage.
*This option is only available if reassembly is physically possible. Reassembly is done on the understanding that no inflation test will be performed and the BCD is returned with the advice that it has been found to be damaged / leaking etc, and therefore future use of the BCD is entirely at the owner’s risk.

If you do proceed with service: the BCD service price includes a complete strip down & clean, disinfection of inner bladder, replacement of all other BCD valves with brand new valves on reassembly and a 6 hour inflation test. Minor puncture repairs (up to 5) are included in the service.

BCD Service The inflator/Auto Air and Mini-cylinder fitted to the BCD is not included in the cost of the BCD service. These incur additional charges as indicated in the table below. Other repairs: Sewing (seam or patch repairs) – £22 per 1/2 hour repair time; Zip replacement – £48.00; Inner Bag replacement – £60.00. £110.00 +pp
Auto Air & Hose Service Complete strip down & clean, replacement of O-rings, mesh, schraeder valves, mouthpiece & any other worn parts. £40.00
AP200/APV200/APV300 Inflator & Hose Service Complete strip down & clean, replacement of O-rings, mesh, schraeder valves, mouthpiece & any other worn parts. £27.00
Mini-cylinder Valve Service Includes servicing the Emergency Cylinder Valve and inspecting the cylinder. Ideally, mini-cylinders should be retested every 5 years and test date-stamped the same as any other compressed gas cylinder. However, in the interests of best practice and safety, we recommend you take advantage of our old for new Cylinder Exchange Scheme (below). £29.00
Mini-cylinder Exchange & Valve Service We exchange your old cylinder for a brand new one and service the valve.  £84.00
AP Blast Air-Horn Service & Hose Complete strip down & clean, replacement of O-rings, schraeder valves & any other worn internal parts. £35.00

BCD Warranty considerations:

Inner bags since 1985 are covered by a registered first-owner Lifetime Warranty against material deficiencies and seam failure. Damage caused after the BCD leaves the factory such as punctures or chemical damage from cleaning fluids or heavily chlorinated swimming pool water are not covered by the warranty.

Outer bags and valves are covered against “faulty materials and workmanship”.  This applies if they fail within an unreasonably short time frame of the first 3 years. It does not include the expected and reasonable “wear and tear” of the product in the harsh environment of diving over decades plus of use.  Misuse or neglect of the product renders all warranties null and void.

The customer must be registered with AP as the original owner of the BCD or possess a receipt, to be eligible for a warranty claim (unless there is a fault with the product within the statutory 1-year warranty period).
