Te Honu Diving

Photos of rebreather diving trip we organized Fakarava SOUTH from 19 to 23 October 2012.

We were staying in a bungalow feet in the water, on the edge of the pass and had organized our dive center with TOP DIVE SOUTH Fakarava we thank, especially Mathias and Silas for the reception, the availability and reliability of their performance.

Our dives were conducted in incoming current from the outer edge of the pass and then let us drift inside. Helped our thrusters SUEX ADV XJoy14 we could cross from one side to the other this beautiful spot to discover the huge schools of gray reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), yellow perch borders (Lutjanus fulvus), perch paddle (Lutjanus gibbus), blue-striped perch (Lutjanus kasmira) and tricolor fusiliers (Pterocaesio tile). Quiet and discreet, we swam literally in the pews of these fish.

We have noticed that sharks seem to be attracted when we move in thrusters. Behavior already observed on the gray sharks and dolphins in Rangiroa and humpback whales in Tahiti. The noise is very low on these devices, it is perhaps a curious observation approach to this “new animal” swifter and less noisy than those usually observed …

After nearly an hour spent on walking, it was time to let it drift gently at the option of low current to cross the plateau of the pass where we met, among others, sumptuous benches priacanthes bloody (!) (Heteropriacanthus cruentatus) red and silver to finish our drift in the bed of the pass on a second wall (to put it mildly) of gray sharks and shark lined (Carcharhinus limbatus) and some shark reef juvenile white tip (Carcharhinus albimarginatus) that we observed for a further forty minute.

Finally, after 2 hours of immersion, it was time to go back to our “small” bearings. About 20 minutes of decompression to 2 past the bottom of the hours pass, especially a small price to pay as we passed under the pontoon pension surrounded by black tip sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus), wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus price ) and paddle schools of snappers (Lutjanus gibbus) to mention only the most notable.

Find ourselves surface Mathias and Silas, of the Top Dive Fakarava South, waiting patiently to help us navigate equipment and escort us to the center where we were able to snack and hot shower, all on the beautiful view of coconut trees and surrounding motu.

Perfect weather, impeccable delivery TOP DIVE South Fakarava, animals at the rendezvous, dives fully optimized with our recycler APDiving Evolution + and our thrusters SUEX ADV XJoy14 …

In short, an unforgettable stay in this magical and unique place where we know we’ll be back … soon.

Again, we wish to thank The dive center TOP DIVE South Fakarava (Nikita, Mathias, Silas, …) for the quality of the service, reception and seriously. Also thank you to Sane and Annabelle Pension Tetamanu for reception, accommodation and delicious meals by password.

Cyrille
